Entry of foreign nationals with special exceptional circumstances

Special exceptional circumstances (Spouse of Japanese National / Child of Japanese National / Visitor of "Permanent Resident" / Visitor of "Long Term Resident") Temporary Visitor visa applications
Applicants holding the Special exceptional circumstances listed below may apply for a Temporary Visitor visa by submitting the documents listed below.
(ⅰ) Spouse of Japanese National
(ⅱ) Child of Japanese National
・Valid passport
・One completed and signed Official visa application form
・35 mm x 45 mm passport-type photos taken within the previous six months
・Proof of relationship to your relative in Japan (e.g. Family Register (戸籍謄本), Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate)
・Copy of front and back of Japanese residence card of your relative in Japan if applicable
Foreigners who plan to arrive in Japan after midnight on 7 September 2022 (Japan Standard Time) for the purpose of visiting Japanese National or Spouse(or/and Child) of Japanese National and wish to apply for a multiple visa, please submit the following format (English or Japanese).
（ⅰ) Visitor of "Permanent Resident"
（ⅱ) Visitor of "Long Term Resident"
・Valid passport
・One completed and signed Official visa application form
・35 mm x 45 mm passport-type photos taken within the previous six months
・Proof of relationship to your relative in Japan (e.g. Family Register, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate)
・Copy of front and back of Japanese residence card of your relative in Japan if applicable
・Letter of guarantee (PDF)from the spouse/parent/family
・Invitation Letter (PDF) and Written Pledge (attached separately) (PDF) from the inviter in Japan

NOTE
- Available to applicants who are first- or second-degree relatives of a Japanese national or ‘Permanent Resident’ status holder, or first-degree relatives of a ‘Long Term Resident’ status holder (first-degree relatives include spouses, children and parents; second-degree relatives include grandparents and grandchildren in addition to spouses, children and parents)
- To prove your relationship with a Japanese national, you must submit an Official Copy of Family Register (戸籍謄本).
- In some cases, additional supporting documents may be required.
- You should provide an original of each document.
- We do not return any of the documents submitted.
- Your passport will be kept by the Embassy while your application is being processed.
