If you have contracted COVID-19 before you enter Japan

If you have contracted COVID-19 and have recovered from your treatment but continue to test positive for the PCR test after repeated testing, and if you fall into one of the categories below, please contact the Consular Section of the Embassy by email (ryouji@ti.mofa.go.jp) with the documents listed in 2 below attached.
1 (i) Japanese nationals
(ii) Holders of status of residence who are re-entering the country
(iii) Spouses or children of Japanese nationals or permanent residents who are newly entering the country, etc.
2 (1) A copy of the personal details page of the passport.
(2) Flight information (e.g. copy of e-ticket, etc.).
(3) A medical certificate from a medical institution, etc. stating that the person has recovered from COVID-19 after exceeding the period of medical treatment after being tested positive for coronavirus (free format).
(4) Test results that have been tested again after the end of the recuperation period for COVID-19 and the results are positive (limited to specimens and test methods deemed valid by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/seisakunitsuite/bunya/0000121431_00248.html).
*In addition, it can take up to 5 (five) working days to respond to your enquiry, so please be sure to prepare the necessary documents and contact us well in advance, especially if your return/entry date is approaching.
