Ambassador paid a courtesy call to Mr. Elmar Vaher, Director General of the Police & Border Guard Board

On 4th February, Ambassador Kitaoka visited the Police and Border Guard Board of the Republic of Estonia to pay courtesy call to Mr. Elmar Vaher, the honorable Director General.
The meeting was also attended by Ms. Reet Zeisig, Head of International Cooperation Bureau of the Development Department. From the Japanese Embassy, Mr. Morihata, Security Attaché attended.
Ambassador expressed his sincere gratitude to the Director General not only for providing security officers to the Embassy’s big events, but also for providing meticulous security protection to the Embassy and the Ambassador’s Residence.
Ambassador also explained that the number of the Japanese residents in Estonia, and of the Japanese tourists to Estonia have been increasing steadily, and asked Director General to continue the existing close cooperation with the Japanese Embassy. The Director General kindly promised to continue our cooperation.
It was followed by the Director General’s briefing to the Ambassador on the activities and challenges of the Police and Border Guard Board, which is one of the biggest governmental organizations.
This meeting turned out to be very precious occasion for the Ambassador to learn a lot about the policing, border guard and immigration control in Estonia.
