On 19th October, Ambassador KITAOKA paid a courtesy call to H.E. Mr. Rene KOKK, the honorable Minister of the Environment.
Mr. Tomoya SHIGENARI, a Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy, in charge of economic affairs, accompanied.
From the Ministry of the Environment, Ms. Kerli KIILI, Head of EU and International Co-operation Department, Ms. Siiri KERGE, Senior Officer of the same Department, and Mr. Kaupo HEINMA, Deputy Secretary General, attended.
The Ambassador’s courtesy call to the Minister started with the follow-ups of the meeting between H.E. Mr. Jüri RATAS, the Estonian Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Shinjiro KOIZUMI, the Japanese Minister of the Environment, which took place in February this year during the Prime Minister’s official visit to Japan.
Then the Minister and the Ambassador discussed extensively on the comparison of Carbon Neutral strategies between Estonia and Japan, and on the next Estonian Forestry Development Strategy.
The meeting finished in a friendly manner with the exchange of presents, Japanese Government’s present of “Kiyomizu-yaki” pottery, and the Minister’s present of cuff links made from plywood of Hiiumaa Island.
