Ambassador KITAOKA had a meeting with Mr. Sõõrumaa, President of the Estonian Olympic Committee

On 30th June, Ambassador KITAOKA had a meeting with Mr. Urmas Sõõrumaa, the honorable President of the Estonian Olympic Committee. From the Committee, Mr. Toomas Tõnise, the Vice President, and Mr. Siim Sukles, the Secretary General attended. And from the Japanese Embassy, Mr. Matsumura, the Counsellor and Mr. Ito, a Second Secretary in charge of culture and public relations attended.
All the participants took their seats keeping enough distance from each other in the dining hall of the Ambassador’s residence, fully ventilated.
The meeting started with the Ambassador’s power point presentation, entitled “What is Japan? Island Country, so mysterious”. Then the participants exchanged views on the preparation works by Estonia for the Tokyo Olympic, preparation works by Saku city in Nagano Prefecture for welcoming the Estonian team as the host town.
From the Estonian side, it was introduced that Japanese sports like Judo or Karate have been making great contributions to the promotion of bilateral friendship between Estonia and Japan. While enjoying the authentic Japanese cuisine cooked by Mr. Arai, the official chef of the Ambassador, the participants eventually wished for the materialization of Tokyo Olympic next year!
