Message from Ambassador NAKAMURA: On the Opening of “Momiji – Japanese Autumn in Estonia 2026”

Starting today, September 1, the Embassy of Japan, in co-sponsorship with the Japanese Cultural Society in Estonia (Jaapani Kultuuri Koda), has launched the 2nd Japanese cultural festival, “Momiji – Japanese Autumn in Estonia 2026.”
“Momiji” (autumn leaves) symbolizes the beautiful autumn in Japan. In Japan, autumn is considered the “season of culture,” during which a wide variety of cultural events are held across the country.
At the inaugural “Momiji” held for the first time last year, thanks to the warm cooperation of everyone involved, a total of 20 events were organized, attracting over 15,000 participants in total. This reaffirmed the high level of interest in Japanese culture in Estonia and served as a valuable opportunity for people from all walks of life to experience Japan’s multifaceted charms. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed.
Marking its second edition this year, the circle of “Momiji” has expanded even further, with a rich lineup of events exceeding that of last year. We will deliver an even more packed program across Estonia, encompassing Japanese traditional culture, arts, fine arts, food, sports, and martial arts (budo). I am truly looking forward to it myself.
In addition, we held an open competition for the festival's official logo this year and received many wonderful entries. As a result, a fantastic logo design by Ms. Eka Susanti was selected. I hope it brings joy to even more people.
In addition to the events currently listed, we will continue to update the lineup with new event information, so please make sure to check our website and social media regularly.
