Mitsubishi Electric and the Estonian Military Academy Launch Industry-Academia Collaboration

On 27th March, Mitsubishi Electric and the Estonian Military Academy formally launched an industry-academia collaboration in the academic field. The signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement was attended by research teams from both sides, including Mr. SHIRAI Tadashi, Senior General Manager of Electronics and Communication Systems Center at Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, and Commodore Johan-Elias Seljamaa, Commandant of the Estonian Military Academy. LTC IYONO Minako, Defence Attaché form the Embassy of Japan, was also present. Both parties exchanged views on the importance of collaboration with like-minded countries and staying abreast of rapidly advancing technologies.

On the preceding day, 26th March, Mr. SHIRAI met with Mr. Siim Sukles, Undersecretary for Defence Industry and Innovation at the Ministry of Defence for the commencement of this cooperation. Mr. Sukles expressed his welcome and high expectations for the launch of this collaboration.
It is hoped that the fusion of Japan’s world-renowned industrial and technological capabilities with Estonia’s innovative initiatives in the digital and defence sectors will make a significant contribution to security in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe.
