Ambassador NAKAMURA Holds Exchange of Views with Members of the Delegation of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF)

On December 9, Ambassador NAKAMURA Koichiro invited members of the delegation of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF), to his residence to exchange views on the international and Estonian security issues.
The delegation, which is visiting Estonia to investigate measures to strengthen human resource base on defense, includes Mr. KUROE Tetsuro, Advisor to Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. (former Vice-Minister of Defense), Mr. YAMAZAKI Koji, Advisor to Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. (former Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff, General JGSDF(Ret.)), Mr. SHIBATA Hiroshi, Special Advisor to the Ministry of Defense (former Director General of the Naval Systems, ATLA, Vice Admiral JMSDF (Ret.)), Mr. KAWAKAMI Yasuhiro, Director and Senior Research Fellow of General Affairs and Networking Program (of the Japan-US Security Studies Unit) of SPF (Rear Admiral JMSDF (Ret.)), and Ms. SHIBAYAMA Marie, Research Fellow of SPF.
Mr. KUROE and Mr. YAMAZAKI are members of the Expert Panel on “Strengthening Human Resource Base”composed of external experts and commissioned by the Minister of Defense, and it is expected that the experience and knowledge gained by the research team during this visit will contribute significantly to the formulation of Japan's future defense policy.
NB: The SPF, established in 1986, is a Japanese private think tank that conducts and disseminates research on security and international relations with the aim of contributing to peace and stability in the international community through policy research and international dialogue.
