Ambassador NAKAMURA and Mrs. NAKAMURA visit Estonia Piano Factory

2025/10/28
On October 28, Ambassador NAKAMURA Koichiro and his wife visited the Estonia Piano Factory and were given a tour of the facility by its CEO, Dr. Indrek Laul.
Estonia Piano was founded in 1893 and was subsequently rebuilt by Professor Laul's family following Estonia's reindependence in 1991, after the period of Soviet occupation. The company is currently the sole piano manufacturer in the Nordic-Baltic region and is recognized as a world-class grand piano maker with international acclaim. It was explained that the founder's surname, "Laul," which means "song" or "to sing" in Estonian, forms the basis of the company's brand philosophy: "a singing instrument."
Professor Laul elaborated on the history, noting that Estonians are a nation that cherishes choral singing, which necessitated many piano factories in the 19th century for accompaniment. He also mentioned that Estonia Piano handles all production processes domestically within Estonia, and that it is a source of national pride as one of the country's most beloved Estonian products.
The Ambassador and his wife were deeply impressed upon witnessing the manufacturing process of these pianos, which possess a rare tonal quality and artistic beauty.
