On March 23, Ambassador Matsumura visited Tallinn University and exchanged views with the Rector, Prof. Tõnu Viik mainly on the current status, challenges, and future prospects of academic exchanges with Japan.
The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the past achievements of the Japan Studies Program Unit in the field of Japanese studies, and they had a wide-ranging discussion on the current status of the academia in Estonia as well as specific measures for strengthening cooperation with Japanese universities, expansion of the base of Japanese language and culture students, and further success of the researchers in the field of Japanese studies.
