Online Lecture by Prof. Tanaka, President of GRIPS "The Rise of the Indo-Pacific: Opportunities for Cooperation between Japan and Europe"

On 14th February, Professor Tanaka Akihiko, President of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) was invited to give an online lecture entitled "The Rise of the Indo-Pacific: Opportunities for Cooperation between Japan and Europe" in collaboration with the University of Tartu.
Following an introduction by Ms. Ene Selart, a coodinator of Japanese affairs at the Asia Centre of the University of Tartu, Professor Tanaka gave a lecture mainly on the history of the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)" concept and cooperation with the U.S. and EU, referring to statistical information from various perspectives. The lecture was followed by a lively exchange of views in response to questions from the participants. We hope that this online lecture has deepened the participants' understanding of the importance of strengthening cooperation between EU and Japan in the Indo-Pacific region.
