●政府に対する信頼度世論調査:エストニア人38%
Estonians' trust in government grows to 38 per cent. In Estonia 38 per cent of citizens trust the national government, which is 2 per cent more than in May, results of a fresh Eurobarometer survey show.

Consumer loan volume has increased annually by 33 per cent in first 10 months of 2013. Based on Bank of Estonia’s estimation, in the first ten months the loan volume was € 137 million.

●学生証で授業出席を電子的に登録
Students can validate participation in class electronically. Gustav Adolf high school in Tallinn starts using an electronic registration system. Each student has a special electronic student card that is used to register attendance in class.

●2013年のエストニアのICT部門の実績
ICT sector opened new doors in 2013. Estonian Information Technology and Telecommunication Association President and Tieto Estonia CEO Anneli Heinsoo mentions as the biggest events in 2013 the logistics firm Kühne+Nagel coming to Estonia, Estonian software company Nortal’s rising export and that Estonia is third after Singapore and South Korea in 4G network coverage. ICT sector turnover in 2013 was about € 3.3 billion. To create additional value in ICT, Heinsoo says companies should increase workers’ e-literacy. She praises IT-undersecretary Taavi Kotka for his excellent job in promoting the sector.

●2014年,2.7パーセントの経済成長の見通し
Estonian economy shows signs of growth. Economic experts believe 2014 will be a year of modest economic growth accompanied by equally modest inflation and sensible wage growth that should result in improved standard of living. Annual economic growth is forecast at 2.7 per cent, while the average salary is set to surpass € 1000 euro line. Inflation is forecast at 2.2 per cent. Economists agree that a full recovery of the European economy will take more time and that growth will be based primarily on domestic consumption for some time.

Estonians have more than 200 patents in the USA. A quarter of them are related to Skype, but other patents include specific jeans design, motorbike design, pharmaceuticals, smart windows, etc.

Port of Tallinn had a record number of passengers in 2013 with 9.236 million passengers or annual 4.5 per cent increase in passenger figures.

Consumers spend more money. According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2013 the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased an annual 7 per cent at constant prices. In November 2013, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises were € 379.6 million, which was 295 €/inhabitant.

●2013年新車販売台数:前年比+4%
Quarter of Estonians buy a new car. Compared to 2012, in 2013 the sale of new vehicles increased 4 per cent and the entire car park’s average age was 14 years. Estonians still prefer to buy Toyota cars the most. In December 992 new vehicles were sold of which 177 were Toyota cars.

In November industrial production increased in most branches of industry. According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2013, the production of industrial enterprises increased annually by 2 per cent. 70 per cent of the whole production of manufacturing was sold on the external market.

●Tele2社(携帯電話),エストニアで3社目の4G免許を取得
Tele2 got third 4G license. Mobile operator Tele2 will have to pay € 5.1 million for the license plus an annual state fee of € 24,150. The operator plans to cover 95 per cent of the country in six months.

●「電気自動車:21世紀の車」
A modern car – electric vehicle (EV). Hans Lõugas writes that while journalistic experiments of driving with an EV from one side of Estonia to another side may give an impression that we have been cursed with EVs, in reality EVs have two advantages compared with “ordinary” vehicles – energy saving and less pollution. Glen Pilvre, who has owned EV for six months, said he got interested in EVs after EV rent option, when he realised this is the future vehicle. Pilvre praises Nissan Leaf as a real 21st century car and calls it even a smart car. KredEx still offers subsidies for buying 260 cars. So far more subsidies have been given to companies than to private persons.

●経済研究所,2014年の成長率+3%を予測
Estonian economy does better. Director of Estonian Institute of Economic Research Marje Josing said that at the end of 2013 Estonian economic sentiment indicator was higher than the Eurozone average as local loan environment was favourable, export partners were doing well and inflation was stable. Entrepreneurs see as problems lack of skilled labour force and worry about stagnating exports. Also industrial development was slower than expected as export of industrial enterprises stagnated due to lack of investments, which are expected to increase in 2014. In 2014 the Institute expects consumer price index to increase 2.5 per cent and 3 per cent GDP growth.

●2013年消費者物価指数:前年比+2.8%
Annual change of the consumer price index was mainly influenced by electricity. According to Statistics Estonia, the consumer price index increased 2.8 per cent in 2013 compared to the average of 2012. The change was mainly influenced by the 28.7 per cent price increase of electricity that arrived at homes that accounted for two thirds of the total increase. The 4.9 per cent price increase of food and the 3.5 per cent price decrease of transport also had a bigger impact on the index.

●2013年タリン空港旅客数:196万人
Tallinn Airport’s passenger figure exceeded expectations. While in January 2013, the airport expected to have 1.8 million passengers in 2013, the actual figure was 1.96 million people. Airlines like Finnair, Lufthansa, airBaltic, Norwegian, LOT, Flybe and Aeroflot all had better results in 2013 than in 2012. In 2013, Tallinn airport had flights to 20 destinations, one connection less than in 2012.

●Krimelte社(発泡ウレタン),タルトゥ大学と協力
Construction foam producer Krimelte signed a cooperation deal with University of Tartu. The cooperation regards polymer chemistry development. Krimelte CEO Alar Salum said despite two leading European polyurethane foam producers – Krimelte and Henkel Makroflex – in Estonia, higher education institutions teach polymer chemistry minimally. The cooperation deal will guarantee labour force for the company. Also cooperation with Tallinn University of Technology is considered. Krimelte exports among other countries also to Japan.

●ネットの自由に関する会議開催
Internet freedom major event will take place in Tallinn. In April, the Internet Freedom Conference is expected to have among guests foreign ministers and experts, altogether 200-250 participants. Estonia is the current head of Freedom Online Coalition that includes 15 member states. Silver Meikar, board member of Institute of Digital Rights, said the conference will be successful if it will address current topics like privacy and surveillance on the Internet.

Honda CR-V was the most sold car in 2013 and Toyota was the most sold car brand. In 2013, 911 Honda CR-V vehicles were sold, while Toyota was the most popular car brand with 2461 cars sold in 2013.
