2012年OMXT株式インデックス:前年比+38.22%。取引額1億3,600万ユーロ
Estonian stock market had a difficult year. Although in 2012 the stock index OMXT increased 38.22 per cent year-on-year, stock market’s turnover fell to the lowest level in history with € 136 million. Alo Vallikivi from LHV bank said a fall in turnover is a global trend, but Estonian situation is even worse.(Postimees, by Tõnis Oja, page 7, December 29, 2012)
 

千人当たり電気自動車登録台数:エストニア2位
Estonia comes second in regards to share of electric cars at the end of 2012. While Norway has four electric cars for every 1000 passenger cars, Estonia’s figure is one, reported KredEx foundation. In 2011 the foundation received 16 applications for support to buy an electric car, while in 2012 it had 93 applications. The most popular electric car model in Estonia is Nissan Leaf.(Postimees, page 3, January 2, 2013)

Economic outlook for Estonia in 2013. Analysts agree that the Eurozone debt crisis is not over and the general uncertainty also hinders economic growth expectations and forces analysts to be cautious. Based on different analysts’ expectations, the 2013 Estonian economic growth will be 3.2 per cent; inflation rate 3.8 per cent; unemployment rate around 9.4 per cent; and average wage 927 euro. Head of Danske bank’s Estonian branch Aivar Rehe was also optimistic about Latvia adopting the euro and its influences to Estonia, because it would increase certainty about this area in general.(Postimees, by Andrus Karnau, pages 8-9, January 2, 2013)

Turkish Airlines will launch Istanbul-Tallinn flight connection as of June 18, 2013. The flights will take place three times per week.(Äripäev, page 5, January 3, 2013)
 

昨年新車登録台数:前年比+12.5%の19,422台。トヨタが販売台数一位
In 2012, 12.5 per cent more cars or a total of 19,422 new cars were bought in Estonia. Most popular car was Toyota Avensis followed by Škoda Octavia and Nissan Qashqai/ Qashqai +2.(Postimees, by Kalev Aasmäe, page 9, January 8, 2013)

TNS Emor’s survey from December 2012 showed that consumer’s food basket was 3.6 per cent more costly than the year before. The cost was 67.45 euros per person.(Eesti Päevaleht, page 3, January 8, 2013)
 

Transiidikeskus社ムーガ港コンテナターミナル,NATOアフガニスタン・ミッションのコンテナを取り扱い
NATO used Muuga container terminal for its cargo transit to Afghanistan. Transiidikeskus’ Muuga container terminal processed about 6000 NATO containers in 2012 of which most content was presumably food transported via Russia to Afghanistan. However, the port cannot reveal the content of the cargo. The estimated value of the deal might have been more than € 500,000. In total Transiidikeskus’ Muuga container terminal handled 224,721 TEUs, which is 15 per cent increase year-on-year.(Eesti Päevaleht, by Andres Reimer, page 10, January 9, 2013)

In November 2012 exports of goods exceeded imports for the first time since February 2010. According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2012, exports from Estonia amounted to € 1.15 billion and imports to Estonia to € 1.14 billion at current prices.(Äripäev, page 8, January 11, 2013)
 

エストニア企業,子宮頸がん治療薬を開発
Estonians prepared a new cancer treatment. Kevelt Ltd offers people with cervical cancer up to 10-12 extra months as a result of Estonian-Russian scientists’ cooperation in the parent company Pharmsynthez with medicament Virexxa. Pharmasynthez also plans to have Kevelt as the production and development centre for the treatment. Estonia was selected for the latter because of its location, i.e. closeness for EU supervision organisations and for its high-level experts.(Eesti Päevaleht, by Andres Reimer, pages 10-11, January 10, 2013)
 

Port of Tallinn社(国有港湾)2012年旅客数:過去最高の884万人
Port of Tallinn hopes to have a new passenger record in 2013. Port of Tallinn had a record number of travellers in 2012 with 8.84 million passengers, i.e. 4.3 per cent increase year-on-year. The port expects to pass 9 million passengers in 2013 with growth coming mostly from connections with Helsinki and St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg line launched in spring 2011 had total 184,353 passengers.(Äripäev, page 6, January 10, 2013)

EVR Cargo社(国有鉄道貨物),昨年過去5年間で最高の取扱量
EVR Cargo, state-owned railway freight company, made a five-year record in cargo transit. In 2012 it carried a total 18.4 million tons of goods, which is 1.7 per cent increase year-on-year.(Äripäev, page 11, January 11, 2012)
 

個人及び経済自由度ランキング:エストニア9位
Estonia ranked ninth in the human freedoms ranking. A recent survey by the Canadian Fraser Institute and German Liberales Institut puts Estonia in ninth-tenth place in the world in terms of personal and economic freedoms of its citizens. The top three is made up of New Zealand, the Netherlands and Hong Kong. Finland, Latvia and Russia came 13, 48 and 89 respectively.(Postimees, page 4, January 12, 2013)
 

EUイノベーションランキング(Eurostat):エストニア8位
According to Eurostat, Estonia ranked 8th in the EU in regards to enterprises with innovation activity. The highest proportion of enterprises with innovation activity were recorded in Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium.(Postimees, page 9, January 15, 2013)
 

三菱自動車,部品輸送のためのムーガ港(エストニア)・カルーガ(ロシア)間コンテナ列車便を開設
Official opening of the Mitsubishi’s Muuga-Kaluuga line took place on January 21. Mitsubishi sends three container trains with spare parts per week via Muuga Transiidikeskus’ container terminal to its factory in Kaluuga, Russia. Head of EVR Cargo Janek Ojamäe said it means for the railway 40-50 per cent increase of cargo volumes. Port of Tallinn CEO Ain Kaljurand said this deal is a quality mark for Estonian logistics sector.
