●ＢＢＣ，エストニアの手作り自転車を評価
Estonian bicycle among the world’s most prettiest bikes. BBC lined up the ten top prettiest bicycles on the planet featuring bike Viks, handcrafted in Estonia. The BBC list included bikes made in the UK and France, as well as Singapore and Japan.

●賃金に対する期待感が上昇
Salary expectations continue to go up. Salary information portal Palgainfo announced that Estonia's median net salary expectation has climbed from € 1,000 to € 1,200. Wage expectations went up in all professions and pressure for bigger basic salary is expected to continue to mount.

Estonian start-ups have involved € 138 million in eight years. From these investments, 28 per cent has been of Estonian origin and 72 per cent has come from abroad, shows statistics put together by Garage48. In early years most investments were made by Estonians, especially by Skype founders and their Ambient Sound Investments as well as Indrek Neivelt’s fund Trust IN. In 2007 the biggest foreign investment was made in Guardtime with more than € 800,000. Since then the foreign investments have gone up and in 2012 local start-ups involved € 20.7 million of which 15 per cent was of Estonian origin. Since 2006, the biggest one-time investment was made to TransferWise with € 18.4 million.

Telecom services expect a growth. According to the recent study of the Estonian Institute of Economic Research, many telecom companies and advertisement agencies expect an increase in demand. Telia Sonera Estonia CEO Valdo Kalm said that need for telecommunications services is growing and data from both EMT and Elion belonging to Telia Sonera shows that people wish to communicate more. The Institute study also revealed that due to Russian sanctions, consumer certainty has decreased, but remains higher than the long-term average.

Naeem Zafar: Estonian start-ups have more potential than start-ups in neighbouring countries. Silicon Valley start-up expert was in Estonia to get acquainted with Estonian entrepreneurship environment and also visit other parts in Eastern Europe that have a lot of potential in his opinion. Zafar found Estonia to be a good place for start-ups as there are many possibilities to succeed. He said many interesting things can happen in Estonia.

●危機に備えるデジタルエンバシー計画
Estonia creates digital embassies. Some Estonian embassies already have servers to keep copies of Estonia’s most important databases. Now state also wishes to rent server rooms in some friendly and safe countries to create digital embassies for Estonia. The idea was given the green light at yesterday's e-Estonia council meeting. Taavi Kotka, the Economy ministry undersecretary in charge of IT, said that data embassies will help Estonia secure its digital consistency and allow it to function in possible crisis situations like cyber-attacks or even an invasion. Kotka added that some registers and services only exist digitally, thus they should be duplicated. Jaan Priisalu, the Chief Director of the Estonian Information System Authority, said that so-called national monuments or services that are not so vital for state’s functioning, e.g. website president.ee, could be moved even to commercial clouds.

State will start supporting biomethane fuel. At the end of this year the Environment Investment Centre will give out a total of € 51.8 million to promote the production of biomethane out of biogas and selling it on the fuel market.

●財務省のＧＤＰ成長率予測：２０１４年＋０．５％，２０１５年＋２．５％
Finance Ministry’s economic outlook is more optimistic than the ones of banks. The autumn economic outlook expects 2014 GDP growth to be 0.5 and 2015 growth 2.5 per cent. Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas said it is a positive message considering the general economic situation. Next year’s budget is estimated to grow 4.5 to 5 per cent. SEB bank expects next year’s growth to be 1.8 and Swedbank 2.3 per cent. The respective outlooks for 2014 are 0.5 and 0.8 per cent.

Average wage in Estonia passed the € 1,000 limit for the first time. According to Statistics Estonia, in the II quarter of 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were € 1,023 and increased 4.8 per cent compared to the II quarter of the previous year.

●国防軍，電気自動車導入に関心
The Estonian Defence Forces is interested in EVs. The Defence Forces find the electric vehicles suitable for their everyday administrative tasks and therefore have expressed the willingness to take 50 EVs in addition to the already existing seven EVs in case the social workers would no longer need them.

Statistics Estonia: in July 2014 the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises annually increased 10 per cent at constant prices. In July 2014, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises were € 448.7 million, which was 341 €/inhabitant.

●スマート街灯，マレーシアで試験へ
Estonian smart street lights developer Cityntel signed cooperation with Malaysian major cities. Cityntel signed a cooperation agreement with Kuala Lumpur and Putraya to test a new kind of LED technology street lights and administrative systems in the cities. In total 200 smart street lights that can be observed in real time will be installed to test the demo solutions within six months.

Estonia climbed in the World Economic Forum's competitiveness rating. Estonia is 29th, having moved up three places compared to last year. Switzerland, Singapore and USA remain the most competitive countries in the world. Estonia did well in the categories of labour market efficiency, macroeconomics, higher education and training, healthcare and basic education and efficiency of goods markets. Estonia's weaknesses included a small market, development of business activities and infrastructure. Head of the Estonian Institute of Economic Research Marje Josing said that Estonia has managed to move up in most categories, and that 29th place out of 144 countries is very good.

●今夏，外国人旅行者が増加
Tourism firms: Estonia had more foreign tourists this summer than year before. While most tourists came from nearby countries, especially from Finland, there has been a significant increase in Asian tourists, but also more tourists came from Turkey. The Estonian Public Broadcasting reported that tourism companies do not want to make predictions about autumn and winter as much depends on the Ukraine-Russia crisis.

●Guardtime社（データ認証システムの開発・販売），Ericsson社と提携
Estonian start-up Guardtime signed a deal with world’s leading network data producer Ericsson AB. Ericsson will use Guardtime to move data more securely and transparently. Ericsson will use Guartime technology to observe networks in real time and check whether someone has hacked their systems. With Guardtime’s Keyless Signature Infrastructure (KSI) technology Ericsson will be able to monitor big data actions on its cloud services for the first time in real time. Guardtime investors include among others also Japanese investors.
