●昨年9月の小売り売上高:前年同月比+6%
Retail sector had annual 6 per cent increase. According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2014 the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased annually by 6 per cent at constant prices. The retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises were € 399 million, which was 303 euros per inhabitant.

●フィンランドでエストニア人高額所得者が増加
Estonians are successful in the Finnish taxpayers’ ranking. Yesterday Finland published its annual taxpayers’ ranking, which included more Estonians than the year before. Compared to 2012, in 2013 there were more Estonians who earned at least € 150,000, most of them doctors.

●エストニア人の労働時間
OECD study shows that Estonians in average work 1868 hours per year. This is 5 per cent more than Americans, 12 per cent more than Brits and Finns, and 16 per cent more than Swedes.

●第3四半期GDP:前年同期比+2.1%
Statistics Estonia: GDP grew 2.1 per cent. According to the flash estimates, the GDP of Estonia increased 2.1 per cent in the III quarter of 2014 compared to the III quarter of 2013. The main contributor to the GDP was manufacturing with the manufacture of electronics and wood accounting for the largest positive contribution to the increase. In addition, the greatest contributor to the Estonian economy was the economic activity of trade. The growth in trade was mainly led by retail trade due to strong domestic demand that is influenced according to central bank economist Kaspar Oja by salary increase and lower prices. At the same time, external demand also grew in the III quarter.

Transferwise社,企業価値が10億ドルに
Financial Times: Estonian start-up Transferwise value increases to billion dollars. According to the Financial Times, the Estonian-founded and London-based TransferWise is in talks with venture capital firm Sequoia Capital to get $ 50 million investment that would increase the money transfer firm value close to $ 1 billion.

●貯蓄している人の比率(83%)がバルト三国で最大
Estonians have the most savings in the Baltics. Swedbank survey showed that while 83 per cent of people have savings in Estonia, in Lithuania and Latvia the relevant figures are 66 and 53 per cent respectively. Although the savings have increased, most people still have less than 1000 euros saved.

●エリクソン社,データ保護にエストニア企業(Guardtime社)の技術を採用
Ericsson uses Estonian technology to secure global data. Estonian start-up Guardtime offers technology that allows checking the integrity of data. As of November, Ericsson, the biggest data infrastructure provider in the world, also uses Guardtime. Guardtime’s other clients include China Telecom, Chinese Zhejiang province, Philippines government, US defence and intelligence institutions. Guardtime’s time stamp technology is based on Estonian X-road data exchange platform.

●2013年の企業成長率:+3.4%
Turnover growth of Estonian companies slowed down. According to Krediidiinfo, in 2013 the growth of Estonian companies was 3.4 per cent, while in 2012 it had been 10.7 per cent. The sales revenue of all companies was around € 52 billion. The number of companies earning profit increased 8 per cent.

●国がスタートアップ投資ファンド設立
Estonia establishes a fund under KredEx to keep and expand start-ups in Estonia. Justice Minister Andres Anvelt (SDP) said Estonia wants to increase the competitiveness in this sector. Foreign Trade and Entrepreneurship Minister Anne Sulling (RP) added that about 60 Estonian start-ups get support. The plan is to have 70 per cent of investments from state funds and 30 per cent from private funds.

●昨年10月に過去最高の輸出高を記録
According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2014, both the exports and imports of goods increased by 5% at current prices compared to October of the previous year. The increase in exports and imports was mostly influenced by the trade of electrical equipment and mineral products.
In October, exports from Estonia amounted to 1.2 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 1.3 billion euros at current prices. So far, the biggest exports turnover had been registered in November 2012, but this October exports turnover exceeded it by 2.5 million euros.  The trade deficit was 144 million euros and it increased by 6 million euros compared to October 2013.

●アフリカでビジネスを行うエストニア企業が増加
Estonians may have a bright future in Africa. At a relevant conference yesterday, it was noted that Estonian companies are increasingly doing business in Africa, despite several difficulties. For instance construction firm Amhold, lingerie firm Lauma, IT-firm Nortal, and others are active in Africa. Foreign Ministry undersecretary Väino Reinart noted that Estonians still so far play a minor role in Africa with less than one per cent of Estonian export going there. クリック&グロウ社(ITを使った植物栽培キットの販売):アラブ首長国連邦に進出
Click&Grow expanded to United Arab Emirates. The company producing smart flower pots in Hiiumaa island will expand with its smart salad and vegetable farm to Dubai. Click&Grow founder and CEO Mattias Lepp noted that in the future the company’s advanced technology could be used to feed entire cities and it would be much cheaper than the solutions offered by their competitors. Click&Grow aim is to become in the next 5-10 years world’s first city farm producer. (Äripäev, page 10-11, December 12, 2014)

●ICT部門の第3四半期利益:第2四半期に比べ10.2%増
ICT sector’s total profit fell by 30.8 per cent. According to Statistics Estonia, the ICT sector’s total profit fell in the III quarter annually by 30.8 per cent to € 45.1 million, while compared to the II quarter the profit increased 10.2 per cent. ICT sector’s sales revenue was € 959.8 million.
