On 3rd September, Counselor SAKAI (Deputy Head of the Mission) visited “HGA (Hayashi-Grossschmidt Arhitektuur)”, which was established by Mr. Tomomi HAYASHI, an architect who has won many competitions in Estonia, together with his Estonian partner. Ms. SAKAI was accompanied by Mr. Toshifumi ITO, a Second Secretary and Ms. Olga TSVETKOVA, a staff member of the Embassy. Mr. HAYASHI also teaches as a Professor of the Institute of Architecture at Tallinn University of Applied Sciences (TKK).
In his modern office which radiates a feel of Estonian “futuristic” designs, he explained the history, characteristics, current situation and future outlook of the Estonian architecture in the international trend, as well as his experience in the construction project of the Estonian National Museum. We exchanged views actively on the feasibility of academic exchange in the field of architecture between Estonia and Japan in the future.
